Wound Care

Injuries to living tissue – cuts, lacerations, punctures – can cause physical pain and emotional distress to patients. Depending on the type and severity of the wound, they can have significant impact on sufferers’ overall quality of life.

Based on its proprietary technology platform, Klox Technologies is currently marketing and commercializing LumiHeal for the treatment of wounds, following the Q2 2017 release of its EUREKA data, in a pilot European country. Our goal is to provide healthcare professionals with an innovative, non-invasive, and cost-effective treatment alternative.

Additionally, we are furthering research and development of LumiHeal for the treatment of post-surgical scars and burns, as the factors that inhibit healing of these conditions are similar to those that impact the healing of chronic wounds.

Chronic wounds are skin lesions that become arrested during the healing process, leading to various complications such as progressive ulceration of skin, necrosis of surrounding tissue, and impaired healing ability.

Chronic and other hard to heal wounds affect approximately 20 million patients around the world annually, according to research published in Advances in Skin & Wound Care. The annual cost to the United States healthcare system of chronic wound treatment and related complications was estimated to exceed $25 billion in 2010, according to research published in Wound Repair and Regeneration.

Based on its proprietary technology platform, Klox Technologies is currently developing LumiHeal for the treatment of chronic wounds. Our goal is to provide healthcare professionals with an innovative, non-invasive, and cost-effective treatment alternative.

Surgical procedures can leave patients with long-lasting or permanent marks on the surface of their skin.  Hypertrophic scars (red, raised scars formed along a wound) and keloid scars (scars resulting from an aggressive healing process) can affect patients’ mobility and physical appearance, causing them to seek treatment options to heal or conceal their scars.

According to a TechNavio report, the global scar treatment market was valued at $14.5 billion in 2013 and is expected to reach $21.17 billion by 2018. The sales of products for the treatment of post-surgical scars accounted for 27-32% of the overall market share in 2013.

Based on our proprietary technology platform, we are furthering research and development of LumiHeal for the treatment of post-surgical scars.

Burns are life-threatening and debilitating traumatic injuries, causing considerable morbidity and mortality. According to Critical Care, burns are among the most expensive traumatic injuries because of long and costly hospitalization, rehabilitation, and wound and scar treatment. The worldwide burn treatment market grew at a compounded annual growth rate of 7.8% from 2003 to 2008, when it reached $2.1 billion, according to Kalorama Information.

Based on our proprietary technology platform, we are furthering research and development of LumiHeal for the treatment of burns.
